Fox’s New Life

Sunday, August 29th, 2004

Rick Fox has taken on another major change in his life: retirement. The former Heel has left the NBA shortly after being traded back to Boston in order to focus more on acting. Earlier this summer Fox announced that he and former wife Vanessa Williams have filed for a divorce.

Hansbrough Commits to UNC

Tuesday, August 24th, 2004

On Monday Tyler Hansbrough committed to UNC. While the bulky 6-9 Missouri product reminds some of a cross between Shaq and Spud Webb, I think he seems like a slightly smaller Eric Montross-type player. It will be fun to see him to develop and NOT GO PRO for a long time.

UNC Schedule is Here

Wednesday, August 18th, 2004

The 2004-2005 Men’s Schedule is here and it is quite different than any we’ve ever seen. After some big non-conference challenges, the Heels embark on the worst ACC schedule in history. Because John Swofford so eagerly wanted to invite Miami and Va. Tech into the conference, the double round robin is gone. The Heels will still play 16 conference games, but instead of getting two cracks at top-5 teams Ga. Tech and Wake Forest, the schedule substitutes Miami and Va. Tech on those two slots.

Johnny Can’t Shoot

Sunday, August 15th, 2004

Fundamentals, effort, shooting. That’s all that Team USA lacks. Team USA lost today to Puerto Rico by 20 points. After PR sagged back on defense, Team USA responded with horrendous 3-point shooting, 13% to be exact.

“They have trouble adjusting to the international game” is the excuse we keep hearing. BULL! The opponent is not making Allen Iverson’s shot flat as a pancake. International players aren’t making Richard Jefferson and David Wade miss incredibly easy shots. And they sure aren’t keeping Team USA from TRYING HARD. Nope, it is the overrated, overpaid coaches and players who are to blame.

Maybe they needed to try a little harder in practice. Practice, man. We talkin’ PRACTICE.
